Brett G. Scharffs

Professor Scharffs is a graduate of Georgetown University and was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, where he earned a BPhil in Philosophy. He received his JD from Yale Law School, where he was Senior Editor of the Yale Law Journal. Over his 25-year academic career, Professor Scharff’s areas of expertise have included law and religion, legal reasoning and rhetoric, philosophy of law, and legislation and regulation. He has taught at prestigious institutions worldwide and has organised certificate programmes on religion and the rule of law at several universities. He is the author of numerous articles and chapters and is currently completing a book on legal reasoning and rhetoric. In addition to his scholarly pursuits, Dr. Scharffs has held leadership positions in academic organisations and serves on editorial and advisory boards.
