Bartholomew I of Constantinople
H.A.H. Bartholomew I of Constantinople is the 270th Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarch. He has held this position since November 2, 1991. He is regarded as the primus inter pares (first among equals) in the Eastern Orthodox Church and is seen as a spiritual leader of Eastern Orthodox Christians worldwide. He is known for his efforts to promote religious freedom, human rights, religious tolerance among the world’s religions, as well as his efforts to promote ecology and the protection of the environment. These endeavors have earned him the title "The Green Patriarch". His initiatives have not only raised awareness about environmental issues but also inspired action. His leadership, therefore, extends beyond the spiritual realm, making him a global figure in environmental advocacy.
