Principal Representative of the Bahá’í International Community to the United Nations

Bani Dugal

Ms. Dugal serves as the co-president and member of the World Council of Religions for Peace; Vice Chair of the Steering Committee of the NGO Working Group on the Security Council; Vice Chair of the Board of Inter Faith Alliance for Safer Communities and as a member of the IRFBA Council of Experts. Previously, Ms Dugal has held prominent roles including as President of the NGO Committee on Freedom of Religion or Belief NY, co-facilitating the Working Group on UN Access, and as Chair of various committees focused on gender equality, women's rights, and children's welfare. Ms. Dugal holds a master’s degree in Environmental law from Pace University School of Law, New York and a law degree from the University of Delhi, India. She has authored published articles, statements and papers. Prior to relocating to the U.S. in 1988, she practiced law before the Supreme Court of India.
